SUMMARY:Oslo Drag Festival - The Weird Sisters: an afternoon of fish
DESCRIPTION:Bienvenue to an aquatic afternoon with your favourite french sisters! \nFor this special après-midi Éloïse et Louise have decided to delve into a topic they are curious about: what does it mean to be fish/poisson? After having been called fish queens one night out in their village (Paris)\, they became committed to solve the mystery of what lies behind this comment. To help them on their way\, they have invited magnifique guests who will serve their own fish interpretations. Will they be able help the sisters understand what this is all about? Could anyone be or become fish? \nBut wait! While rehearsing her new routine for this show\, Éloïse was caught in a fishnet\, and had to leave Louise on her own. Will Louise be able to run this dragucational afternoon without her sister? Or will Éloïse detangle in time? 😳 \nHold your breaths! It’s going to get fishy. \nLes invités: Owl\, Jelena Skankovic\, Luna Palmer et Brødskive 🐬🐟🐠🐡 \nPerformers\nThe Weird Sisters \nBibby & Barth are a theatre-maker duo based in Oslo\, with a love for absurd physical theatre. Both studied physical theatre in London\, and between them they have further education in clowning\, drag\, butoh and opera singing. The realisation that they both speak fluent French and share appreciation and knowledge of French culture led to the development of the French characters ‘The Weird Sisters’ in 2020. These peculiar sisters\, Eloise and Louise\, most often appear in camp Coco Chanel-inspired style and inhabit a bizarre world of Beckettian references\, where french songs\, a nostalgic 60s aesthetic\, and sumptuous glamour set the scene for their absurd antics. The sisters communicate in french and broken english\, but the main focus is on the physical\, the non text-based and the visually absurd. Bibby & Barth have created performances starring The Weird Sisters every year since 2020. Photo Credit: Karina Rønning \nhttp://www.bibbyandbarth.com. \nOwl \nBirds of a feather or a murder of crows\, this night creature can be your worst nightmare or your beautiful songbird. But can owls be fish too? Only one way to find out. Photo credit: Pernille Sommer. \nJelena Skankovic \n“If I’m wearing a bikini … where do I keep my [poke]balls? Teehee… woman’s secret.” A wild JELENA appeared! Jelena burst onto the drag scene in 2022 as part of OsloMet’s Kunsten å dragge (where she befriended Barth)\, won the Eurovision Lipsync Contest in 2023 and has since then dazzled audiences at above and beyond. A trailblazer\, and she produced the first-ever drag show at Oslo City Hall during Oslo Pride in 2023. By day\, she’s a senior engineer and project manager for the City of Oslo\, and in that sense a proud amateur in the field of drag. From Kragerø to the big stage\, Jelena is proving it’s never too late to shine! Photo credit: Karina Rønning. Grapic design: Alvar Aronija. \nLuna Palmer \nLuna made her debut on the Norwegian drag scene in 2019 and has since left her mark on Norwegian drag through both solo performances and as one of the founders of the Bergen-based drag group Haus of Friele. Art mediation is her day job\, and she often draws inspiration from her field of expertise\, as well as everything else her passionate activist heart cares about. In Luna’s universe\, you’ll encounter everything from Caravaggio to Kesha\, from religious rituals to Greta Thunberg\, all presented with a distinctive perspective and a warm sense of humor. Photo credit: Pernille Sommer. \nBrødskive \nBrødskive aka Jens Martin Hartvedt Arvesen has worked with many different art media\, most notably Drag\, Dance and DJing. Jens Martin is currently working freelance as a performance artist. They started their Drag career in 2013 together with the others in Princessilicious. They have initiated and had a finger in many different concepts for the Queer and Drag community in Oslo. Current editions of collaborations for queer artistic infrastructure and accessibility of the arts include\, but is not limited to\, Karmaklubb*\, Oslo Drag Festival and Queer Community Club (QCC). They are also continuously expanding and researching knowledge about drag through concepts like Draglaboratoriet and Oslo Drag Festival\, and currently teaching Drag at OsloMet. In her artistic work with the art of drag Elektra Puzzz is on an always ongoing journey and exploration of different gender expressions. Working with creating stories in her acts\, conveyed through expressions like characterwork\, lipsync\, audio\, movement and visual effects. Elektra also has their own drag school\, Oslo Dragskole ! Check it out! \nBleach Boo-Boo \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBleach Boo-Boo did her first drag show in 2004\, long before both YouTube and RuPaul’s Drag Race. In other words\, you could say that Bleach has already become an antique in the drag world\, but her age is still unknown to most. Since 2004\, Bleach has performed and danced her way through a multitude of larger and smaller shows around Norway and Europe. In recent years\, she has also become known as a crafty queen who almost always sews her costumes from scratch. She also became known to the public through her participation in the sewing competition show\, “Symesterskapet”\, where she used every opportunity she could to queer up the situation. In this production\, Bleach Boo-Boo has choreographed the ending group act. \nBrødskive \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrødskive aka Jens Martin Hartvedt Arvesen started their Drag career in 2013 together with the others in Princessilicious. They have initiated and had a finger in many different concepts for the Queer and Drag community in Oslo. Current editions of collaborations for queer artistic infrastructure and accessibility of the arts include\, but is not limited to\, @karmaklubb_oslo \, @oslodragfestival and @qcc_club . They are also continuously expanding and researching knowledge about drag and teaching Drag at Buskerud FHS and OsloMet. Jens Martin has a Master’s degree in Dance from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO). \nThe GrimscRibe \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGRIMSCRIBE is the stage sibling of drag king Briar The Vaudevillain and an evolving performance art project aimed at exploring drag through a transhuman or superhuman lens. It is born from uncomfortable dreams\, muddy thoughts\, fog\, and a touch of sweet\, dark magic. Grimscribe’s goal is to explore and find beauty in even the darkest\, dirtiest\, and most frightening art forms—to open itself to the world and the world to itself. Grimscribe has already appeared on stage multiple times as a burlesque-AI and has spent several years delving into themes of cyberpunk\, dystopias\, artificial intelligence\, and the tension between machine and human. For the AI / Icons show\, Grimscribe explores machines and emotions—artificial emotions\, if you will (AE)—and questions what would happen if our AI-driven machines not only became intelligent but also self-aware. Would they wish to know more about themselves? Would they long to become more human? Can an android cry and laugh? In this production The Gricmscribe has made the voice over and also made the voice over´s script with Veela Voulez Vous. \nCHEMOLINA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat do you get if you mix light chemotherapy with someone in desperate need of attention? A drag queen with a weird name! She is Chemolina and she’s gonna slay you just as medication slayed her immune system. Chemolina is a chameleonic artist channeling her creative energy through makeup\, looks and performances. She seeks to spread her artistry and inspiration to keen onlookers. Chemolina has amassed a wide scope of appearances and stages under her corset. The body of her work ranges from performance theatre\, intricate lip-sync numbers to campy hosting and celebrations. She will always deliver and you never know what to expect! Chemolina has done all the grapich on this production. \nNabi Yeon Geisha \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNabi Yeon Geisha is one of the producers at Open Drag Stage\, and also the producer of this show. She works at Oslo MEtropolitan University at Institute of Aesthetic Studies and have created the education program ´Art of Drag´. Here you can learn the tools to do drag! She is also part of the drag collective\, Princessilicious\, and the festival manager for Oslo Drag Festival. Her main artistic project is Dronningtimen\, where she tells fairytales with an queer twist for the children and youth. She is looking forward to be part of this show\, and hope it will create exiting and important discussions about art and AI. \nVeela Voulez Vouz \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHey everyone! It’s me\, Veela Voulez Vous\, proudly throwing my hat in the air and glitter all around for six whole years! In my artistic universe\, there are no limits to what gender can be\, and I love breaking down the binary system with every single performance. Now\, I have some exciting news! This time\, I’m planning something truly special and different. What could it be\, you ask? Well\, let’s just say technology is involved\, and I have a surprise up my sleeve that might lead to some unpredictable sounds and hilarious twists along the way! With my extensive experience in text and theater\, along with my keen sense of dramaturgy\, I promise this will be a holistic\, fun\, and unexpected experience. I’ve even teamed up with an “invisible assistant” who will take you on a journey filled with surprises and magic! Don’t miss out on this unique and innovative experience where anything can happen. Join me on this adventure and be part of a show where mystery\, technology\, and creativity blend into one! #VeelaVoulezVous #DragShow #Mystery #InnovativeDrag #BreakingTheBinary. Come and join the fun – it’ll be a night to remember! This text was absolutely NOT written by ChatGPT! – or…? \nEliza Fierce \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEliza Fierce is an experimental Drag artist\, exploring gender expressions and concepts of ‘beauty’. Using visual tools such as pigment\, light\, fabrics\, and projections\, Eliza dares to break boundaries and push the perceptions of the audience\, but also their prejudices and expectations. When Eliza enters the stage\, you will be not only surprised\, but also touched. As AI technology is more accessible for everyone to use\, Eliza wanted to see how this could work in their favour without lossing their artistic crediability\, AI technology will try to be used only to find different solutions\, but not to create new material. Can this be done?! Stay tuned and come see this amazing Aicons show at SALT 28th of September to see how! Eliza Fierce is part of the Drag collective Princessilicious and has also been one of the crew behind Open Drag Stage (ODS) since 2017. They have since then developed a new concept through Open Drag Stage called Abjectified where everything repulsive is being celebrated and worshiped in the art of drag. In this production\, Eliza Fierce is the marketing manager.

SUMMARY:Innafor\, men uttafor // Oslo Drag Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a spectacular celebration of diversity\, creativity\, and fabulousness at the Oslo Drag Festival 2024! Hosted at the iconic SALT art & Music venue\, this event promises to be a thrilling extravaganza like no other. Mark your calendars for May 31st to June 1st and get ready to immerse yourself in a world of drag performances\, artistry\, and community.\n—————————————————————————\n“Welcome to a somewhat different drag experience via Innafor\, men uttafor!\n\nThis will be a night of de-mystification\, wonder and re-creation where a small ensemble of drag artists will meet on stage to define what drag is from them through a collective looking glass.\n\nInnafor\, men uttafor can be viewed as an experimental playground where the performers are encouraged and allowed to disassemble what the concept of drag is to them\, then reassemble it again in new ways. A place to play with concepts and set notions\, actions and words that embrace people and situations\, but also the shape of drag as an artform. Everything is placed in a system through a love for all the concrete shapes that define drag.\n\nVera Brå\, Anja Bibby\, Brødskive\, Veela Voulez Vous and Betty Beige are all performers with experience of scenic arts\, and with a passion for bringing their personal and artistic depictions of what drag means to them. By using experience and knowledge acquired through various art forms (not limited to theater\, drag and music)\, the artists on stage will work as a collective group to illustrate what drag means to the individual artist\, as well as the group as a whole. Through a collective process they will de-construct\, re-structure and transform\, and also turn the concept of drag as an artform inside out!\n\nWelcome to a performance that aims to demystify\, deform and celebrate the conventions of drag as an artform! “
