September 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting month for Brødskive Performance, as it’s the first full month of Jens Martin’s new full time freelance work practice. Jens Martin has worked full time freelance before, but two years teaching Drag at Arbeiderbevegelsens Folkehøgskole and one year of studying PPU at KhiO in between makes it three years since last time, and this was in the middle of the pandemic.
One of Brødskive’s iconic dresses will be exhibited at Baba bar Oslo, Oslo’s new queer bar, for an entire month, from 5th of September to 3rd of October. The vernissage is at the 5th of September, at the event Fri Da Bingo at Baba bar. For more info about this dress, please visit the archive. Link to event.

Jens Martin will brush off their Techno DJ skills at the event TECHNOKJELLER – DECADANCE at the venue Skatten Oslo Saturday 7th of September. They will play in the Dark Room from 00-01, followed by Sattva and Pervo. Listen to Jens Martin’s Techno mix here. Link to event.

Lastly, Jens Martin will premiere an entirely new act at the event “AICONS – where icons and AI meets” at SALT Art & Music at the 28th of September. The act is a short solo play, that will reflect on the advent of generative AI, potential consequences, and recurring tangential events and depictions throughout history. It is a dystopic speculative fiction, where the main character is Meta’s generative AI. I will not go easy on this character. Link to event.

An honorable mention would be this coming Friday, 30th of August, where QCC, the DJ collective where Jens Martin is a member, will throw a party at The Villa. Jens Martin is not playing this time, because they are not in Oslo, but still involved in the planning. The Villa has one of the best sound systems in town, and QCC is known for their solid, but varied music profile. Link to event.

Stay tuned, for in October, more stuff will happen. Already the first week, Jens Martin will DJ in Berlin, Germany at Friday the 4th of October, and host a workshop about the Abject at Oslo Dragskole at Sunday the 6th of October.
